Is It Time to change the Name of Our Political Parties?

By FBCStaff-If you are like most democrats or a member of the republican establishment, you may have convinced yourself you’re the smartest kid in the room. You may have passed into a new dimension known as an “enlightened” progressive.

Merriam-Webster defines enlightened as “freed from ignorance and misinformation.”

Merriam-Webster defines a progressive as a : of, relating to, or characterized by progress
b : making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities.

Webster defines liberalism as
1 the quality or state of being liberal
2 often capitalized : a movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity
b a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market, and the gold standard (see gold standard 1)
c a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy (see autonomy 2) of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties; specifically : such a philosophy that considers government as a crucial instrument for amelioration of social inequities (such as those involving race, gender, or class)
d capitalized the principles and policies of a Liberal

Most democrats and establishment republicans do not believe in self regulation; however they do look to government for social justice. Politicians often use the term progressive when speaking of social change. Hard core democrats keep the establishment republicans in line by labeling them as racist, misogynists and homophobes. Conservatives usually ignore their rhetoric and their lack of ability to hold a productive discussion of issues and chalk it up to their intellectual poverty. They are not liberal.
What is more likely is they are pedants confusing liberalism with intelligent and most likely view those who do not share their pc perspective as being less intelligent, especially conservatives. So stop calling them liberal, they are an enlightened big government progressives.

The Democrats and Republican Parties have been with us since our country was founded. The parties have gradually morphed into the Progressive and Conservative Parties. We should change the names so our politicians won’t be confused as to which party they belong to.
The party platforms would be simplified. Progressives stand for more regulation, bigger government and more taxes to run it. Conservatives stand for less regulation, smaller government and less taxes.

I’m betting we would find many republicans politicians in the progressive party and few if any democrats in the conservative party.
